По предварительным данным, на территории промышленной базы по улице Розы Люксембург города Иркутска расположен контейнер с запорным устройством, в который складированы медицинские отходы, расфасованные в специализированную упаковку медицинских учреждений. В дальнейшем биоматериал утилизируется одной из коммерческих фирм города, осуществляющей деятельность по договору. На территории базы и за ее пределами беспорядочно разбросанных медицинских отходов не обнаружено, специфический запах отсутствует.
«Медицинские отходы класса Б» — ампутированные конечности, органы и ткани.
В настоящее время следователями Следственного комитета Российской Федерации по Иркутской области проанализирована информация из ряда средств массовой информации об обнаружении медицинских отходов и производится дополнительный осмотр места происшествия, опрашиваются сотрудники медицинского учреждения, сотрудники базы, на которой расположен контейнер. Следователями проводится комплекс иных проверочных мероприятий, направленных на установление всех обстоятельств произошедшего. По результатам проверки будет принято процессуальное решение.
